Today was a fantastic race day (mainly because I PRed!). Although the weather was a little warm to start and the humidity was high, by an hour into the race, it had cooled and the wind picked up (which was actually nice).
The race organizers did a fantastic job planning a five star event (minus running out of powerade for the last couple of corrals). Not only did we get a cute technical shirt for signing up, we also received another technical shirt for finishing! The medal was great and there was even free beer! I will post pictures of the shirts and medal tomorrow.
This was a special race because two of my good friends decided to run Cowtown as their first half marathon. They finished and felt great afterwords.
I PRed with a time of 1:45:27 and could not have been more excited. I was hoping for 1:55 and secretly hoping for 1:50, so 1:45 was insane! The bummer of the deal is I think my electrolytes got off balanced because for the remainder of the day I was "hot to trot" if you know what I mean... My tummy was cramping so badly, I couldn't even nap. Luckily that didn't affect my appetite or thirst so I think a couple of glasses of Gatorade made a great deal of improvement...along with the Immodium :)
Here are a few of my favorite pics. I'm a little scared to look at the professional ones as I had to ditch my shirt with my friend's husband a few miles in. I may be in shape, but I'm pretty sure my bare belly was less than hot!
