Yesterday on my run, I finally became focussed on the race I have coming up this weekend. It's going to be a great time as I will have several friends from work running (as in 4 others), and for two, it will be their first half marathon.
My mileage has been fantastic for me; I've consistently stayed in the 40s for weekly mileage. That is where I peaked last year for my marathon training, and I haven't even done a long run further than 12 miles for quite a while.
While I was running, I was thinking about what races I will be doing this spring and summer. I have Grasslands coming up in March and I still have not decided whether I should suck it up and run the full, or just stick with the half. I know I can do the full, but I have this big fat mental barrier holding me back. I really need to just sign up and be done with it so I am forced to knock out a couple runs between 18 and 20 miles.
So, back to Cowtown prep. The family and I will head to Ft. Worth on Saturday morning for packet pick up and the expo. I haven't run a race this size before so I am excited for the expo and all of the fun running stuff! Sunday morning the race starts at 7:00 a.m. which means we will probably be in the car by 4:30...my poor family!
I need to restock my Nuun supply and decide if I am wearing my Nathan vest or if I will just carry handhelds...I think I am sold on the vest, however. I love that thing! I am thinking my running skirt and a tank will be the outfit of choice.
If you haven't signed up...here's the link!
