Treadmills and Family Time

What do either of those have in common? Maybe nothing at first glance, but for me, getting up at 4 a.m. to head out for my run (well, head to the treadmill at the gym) means that when we get home I can actually be domestic and spend more time with my kiddos instead of rushing back out the door to get the miles in. I'm thinking this is a good idea since my husband has told me about 25 times in the last two days that he's so happy I am home in the evening.

As much as I would like to think that's so he can snuggle me and rub my feet, it probably has something to do with the fact that I can actually make dinner and have it on the table before 7:30! Tonight was a first in the dinner department...I made spaghetti with elk meet. Had I known it was the elk that one of the hubby's students had brought him, I probably would have passed over it in the freezer, but I didn't realize it wasn't beef until I tasted it. It was alright I guess; a little on the gamey side or sweet as the hubby decided. I made a lot thinking it would be great for leftovers, however, I'm thinking I will have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich tomorrow while the family indulges in elk again.

Tomorrow will be another 7 miles on the treadmill before 6 a.m. and then I will take Friday off before the Saturday morning long run. I will need to remember last Saturday and the tequilla so that I do not have to relive last Sunday's attempt at a long run. With Grandma's marathon only about 12 weeks away, it's time to step it up.

Still working on being more of a photographer...
