Hunky Hubby Part Deux

After the guest bedroom and dining room were finished, the Girard's decided to spend the rest of the week relaxing and enjoying the break, so we boarded our private jet and spent a couple of nights in Paris...well, that would be a nice story, right? Instead, we went to bed, slept until 9, and tore up the rest of the carpet hoping to meet our deadline of having all the carpet out by the time the garbage man came Tuesday afternoon. We were successful.

I'm going to say it one last time, and then I will put it to rest, but for the love of Pete, who in their right mind thinks carpet in the bathroom is a good idea? We were relieved that there was no mold underneath.

My closet is in the bathroom, so the carpet was taken out along with most of my clothes and another shelving unit that holds my jewelry, socks, bras, and underwear (it is currently residing in the dining room, so our guests can see my under garments when they first enter our house...really need to get that moved). We will be tiling these spaces as soon as my husband's banged up knee is healed somewhat. It's kind of nasty right now...

 Bye, bye carpet!

Seriously, she really thinks she's human and likes to get her picture taken...have you noticed she is in a lot of the pics? She, also, can't wait for Brandon to get out of bed in the morning so she can lie her head on his pillow next to me.

I think this bottom picture is my favorite part of the process. As soon as the baseboards go back up, we scrub the floor with Murphy's Oil and it becomes shiny, clean, and smells so good!

Anyone else not able to get into a bed unless it's made? Hmmm...maybe that's just hubby and I being a little too type A.

The hubby's closet with seamless transition from the bedroom...nice, right? Can I say that besides getting into a made bed, not much makes me happier than organized closets!

And there it is, another spring break project checked off. After the swelling goes away in the hubby's knee, and his grad school is complete for the week, we will begin the tile process. The gutter guys came and installed the gutters today as well, so our house shouldn't wash away in the next rain. And, the final project of new countertops will be under way after we go and pick out our slab of granite. It's probably a good thing that we are real home bodies because after the chunk of change we just spent, we will not be taking a vacation this summer...sorry boys, no Disney this year. In fact, you might even find a family of four hitch hiking north to Minnesota for the summer (where we get free food, lodging, and don't have to pay for TX air conditioning...oh and to see our wonderful families)!
